Dr. Adrian Helmsley, part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on earth of radiation out of unprecedented solar storms, learns that the earth's heart is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the planet is getting unstable and without appropriate trainings for saving a small percent of the world's populace, the entire race is doomed. Meanwhile, the writer Jackson Curtis stumbles on precisely exactly the same info. While the world's leaders race to build"arks" to escape the approaching cataclysm, Curtis struggles to find a means to save his family.
