Brasilia, Contradictions of a New City
In 1967, de Andrade was invited by the Italian firm Olivetti to generate a docudrama on the brand-new Brazilian capital city of Brasília. Built during the latter fifty percent of the 1950s as well as founded in 1960, the city became part of an effort to occupy Brazil's substantial indoor area as well as was to be the embodiment of autonomous urban planning, without the course departments as well as inequalities that define many cities. Unsurprisingly, Brasília, Contradições de uma Cidade Nova (Brasília, Oppositions of a New City, 1968) revealed Brasília to be utopic just for the affluent, reproducing the exact same social troubles present in every Brazilian city.
