F for Fake
Records That the lives of infamous fakers Elmyr de Hory and Clifford Irving. De Hory, who committed suicide to avoid prison time, made his name by attempting to sell forged works of art by painters such as Picasso and Matisse. Irving was infamous for writing a fake autobiography of Howard Hughes. Welles moves between fiction and documentary since he examines the fundamental aspects of fraud and also the men and women who perpetrate fraud at the cost of others.
