Farewell, My Lovely

LA private eye Philip Marlowe (Robert Mitchum) is hired by excon Moose Malloy to find his girl friend. While also investigating the murder of a client and also the convicted of a jade necklace, Marlowe becomes entangled with seductress Helen Grayle (Charlotte Rampling) and discovers a web of dark secrets that are better left hidden. It follows the Raymond Chandler's book closely although soaked at 1940s period detail, Farewell, My Lovely is actually just a neo movie of this 1944 film.
