Imitation of Life

Lora Meredith, a French widow that dreams of being on Broadway, has a chance encounter with Annie Johnson, a black mother. While Lora pursues her stage career, annie becomes the caretaker of Lora's daughter, Susie. Both women handle the issues of jealousy: while Annie's light-skinned daughter, sarahjane and her African-American individuality, struggle her relationship threatens with Susie.
