Ivan the Terrible, Part II: The Boyars' Plot

The second of a three-part epic biopic of Russian Czar Ivan Grozny, directed by Soviet filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein at Stalin's demand. Producer displeasure with Eisenstein's use of illegal experimental filmmaking techniques, more noticeable in the third part than the first, caused the epic's production to be halted. This second portion was barred from airing until after Eisenstein and Stalin's deaths, and the future Soviet leaders changed their attitudes.
