Macbeth

Kit Monkman, the filmmaker of The Knife That Killed Me, has reimagined Shakespeare's Macbeth in an innovative new film version. Mark Rowley is the star of the film (The Last Kingdom, Luther). A new form of imaginative environment is created by Monkman's original adaptation that successfully spans the gap between theater and film. If you want to see a new way to tell a story, this one is for you. The audience's involvement with the story takes center stage in this new version, which makes the theatrical setting even more vivid while still keeping the language and themes of Shakespeare's original play in tact. To make the world in which the action happens, background matte painting and computer modeling are used to make it. The green screen lets Monkman make his vision of a multi-tiered globe in which the characters play out their different fates.
