Mama's Boy
Dustin Lance Black explores his childhood roots, LGBT identity, and close relationship with his mother, who overcame childhood polio, violent marriages, and Mormon orthodoxy to become Black's emotional rock and, eventually, the inspiration for his activism, while returning to the places where he grew up. With an abundance of personal images and candid recollections from Black's family, colleagues, and friends, this documentary embraces the personal in order to portray a universally uplifting story of perseverance and reconciliation through the power of love and shared tales.
