Passion
Having left a bad relationship, film artist Maja Borg looks at two rituals: Christianity and BDSM. At first glance, religion and subculture couldn't be more different from each other. However, there may be a spiritual connection between the two in terms of their healing power. Borg faces herself and her deep personal traumas in a dark, theatrical way while exploring the European queer scene and the Christian heritage of northern Europe to get back to her own core. In 'Passion,' passion and suffering are two sides of the same complicated case. The film's transcendental imagery brings together literary and cinematic traditions into a ceremonial whole. But the abstractions give the film's encounters, in which Borg is tested in both body and spirit, a sense of human depth. And maybe it's the fact that people are human that makes theology and BDSM connect on an emotional and maybe even spiritual level.
