Private Vices, Public Virtues

Emperor Franz Josef of Austria's son, Crown Prince Rudolf, is believed to have taken at himself and his lover in Mayerling in a suicide pact in 1882. Due to Imperial coverups, the complete story may not be known. This narrative was filmed several times, in French in 1935 and in English in 1968. Director Miklos Jancso re-creates those events due to his purposes, continuing his preferred subject of paternal authority's rejection. In Rudolf can be a good-natured pan sexual GoldenBoy, who cavorts with a lot of aristocratic lovers and friends of both sexes on his estate. He refuses to leave his country idyll even though he's been arranged into his daddy. Despite the fact for a huge portion of the film, attractive young individuals participating in sensual experiences and begin unclothed, the mood is certainly one of melancholy as opposed to prurience.
