The Holy Mountain
A master leads a Christ figure as well as disciples to some mountain of immortal wise men. The scandal of the 1973 Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky's flood of vision and existential symbolism at The Holy Mountain is really actually a quest for enlightenment. The Alchemist (Jodorowsky) builds together a group of people from all walks of life to represent the planets in the solar system. The intention of the occult adept is to place his recruits before embarking on a trip to Lotus 29, and divest them of their ancestral bags. There they dared the ancestral gods who secretly rule the universe to be displaced by the Holy Mountain.
