The Only
The Only is the story of U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame goalkeeper Briana Scurry. The documentary explores the inspiration and darkness of a Hall of Fame goalie who was the only Black starting and openly gay player. The film celebrates Scurry's historic legacy, which includes two Olympic gold medals and a penalty save that helped the U.S. win the 1999 Women's World Cup. It also tells how she overcame racism and homophobia during her greatest triumphs before finding herself on the edge of suicide after a career-ending concussion.
