The Pit and the Pendulum

Set during the height of Spanish Inquisition. The beautiful and kind hearted Maria is detained as being a witch if she inadvertently cries out in terror at the general public whipping of a young child. Since Maria's husband Antonio attempts to rescue her, Torquemada, the Grand Inquisitor, determines to penalize Maria with torture for the appetite she inflames within him. Loosely based on Edgar Allen Poe short story.
