The Reluctant Astronaut

Roy Fleming, played by Don Knotts, is frightened of heights. Roy grudgingly flies to Houston after finding his father signed him up for the space program, only to learn he's a janitor, not an astronaut. Roy, eager to please his father, pretends to be an astronaut to his family and friends. Roy faces his anxieties as NASA launches a layperson into orbit to test an automated spacecraft.
