A Woman Called Moses
When Harriet Tubman, an African-American slave who helped to build the Underground Railroad and escorted dozens of African-Americans from enslavement to freedom, died, her story was told in a television miniseries titled A Woman Called Moses. It was aired on NBC on December 11 and 12 of 1978, with Orson Welles narrating the story.' Cicely Tyson, the Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress who played Tubman, won the role.
