Baccano!
The light book series Baccano! was written by Ryohgo Narita and illustrated by Katsumi Enami. The series is mostly set in a fictional United States over several time periods, most notably the Prohibition era, and is sometimes recounted from multiple points of view. It focuses on numerous unrelated individuals, including alchemists, robbers, thugs, Mafiosi, and Camorristi. After recreating an immortality elixir in 1930s Manhattan, the characters begin to cross paths, triggering a series of increasingly chaotic occurrences. ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint published its first novel in February 2003; as of March 2013, twenty novels had been published. The novels inspired a sixteen-episode anime television series directed by Takahiro Omori and produced by Brain's Base and Aniplex. The first thirteen episodes aired on WOWOW between July 26, 2007 and November 1, 2007; the last three were available on DVD only. The series has also been turned into a two-volume manga, a Nintendo DS adventure video game, and two drama CDs. A novel was issued alongside the first drama CD, and two gaiden novels were released in installments alongside the DVDs of the anime adaptation.
