Kindred: The Embraced
Kindred: The Embraced is a John Leekley Productions and Spelling Television television series. The series debuted on Fox on April 2, 1996, and aired for eight episodes before being canceled on May 9, 1996. It was loosely inspired on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. The series centered on San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek, who, while investigating reputed mobster Julian Luna, discovers that his city is home to several vampires. Julian is the "prince" of the city and the leader of five factions of vampires in the city known collectively as "The Kindred." Julian strictly maintains the regulations governing vampires in order to protect their identity, as vampires subsist by disguising themselves as humans and utilizing a "masquerade" Julian and Frank develop an uneasy alliance as they attempt to avoid a vampire war, while Julian fights with his romantic affections for human reporter Caitlin Byrne. On VHS and DVD, the eight episodes of the series have been published.
