The Six Million Dollar Man

Former astronaut with bionic implants, The Six Million Dollar Man tells the story of a federal agency called OSI. The series is based on the Martin Caidin novel Cyborg, which was the series's proposed name during pre-production. From 1974 until 1978, ABC broadcast The Six Million Dollar Man as a series on a regular basis after it aired three pictures on television in 1973. When Lee Majors took on the role of Steve Austin, he quickly rose to fame as a pop cultural phenomenon. From 1976 to 1978, there was a spin-off series called The Bionic Woman. Additionally, from 1987 and 1994, there were a number of television movies based on the two characters.
