City of the Sun
Chiatura, in western Georgia, used to provide as much as half of the world's manganese supply. Like a post-apocalyptic wasteland, it now lies in ruins. Several of the final residents are portrayed by Mzis qalaqi. Zurab, a music instructor, earns extra money by tearing down dilapidated concrete structures and reselling the iron girders. Archil continues to work in the mine, but he is much happier when he is performing with the community theater. Two young women are training for the Olympics while being severely undernourished.
