Original Cast Album: Company
The cast recording of Stephen Sondheim's "Company" was done the Sunday after opening night in 1970. Legendary documentarian D.A. Pennebaker captured the initial cast recording, the back and forth between Sondheim and the performers, and the dynamic of trying to record live performance. Elaine Stritch sings "The Ladies Who Lunch" to end the film. The show won 6 Tonys, including "Best Musical," and ran two years on Broadway. Planned "Original Cast Album" films never happened.
