Kumiko is now in her second year and is one of the euphonium section's senior players. Kumiko will have to learn new skills in order to cope with awkward and challenging underclassmen as new underclassmen join the concert band. She has been chosen, along with third-year trumpeter Tomoe Kabe, to head the new underclassmen members. Among the new members of Kumiko's bass section are euphonist Kanade Hisaishi, whose appearance is deceptive; tuba player Mirei Suzuki, who is having difficulty adjusting to her new environment; tuba player Satsuki Suzuki, who wishes to work with Mirei; and double bassist Motomu Tsukinaga, who is unable to speak about himself. Between the Sunrise Festival, chair placement auditions, and the competition, a slew of issues arise swiftly.
