The Cement Garden
After her husband's death, Julie, Jack, Sue, and Tom's mother begins to suffer from an unknown illness. Knowing she will have to go to the hospital, she opens a bank account for the children so that they can be financially self-sufficient and avoid being taken into care by the authorities. Unfortunately, she also dies, and Julie and Jack (the older, adolescent children) decide to hide her body in the basement so that they can have complete control of their home. Soon after, Tom began dressing as a girl, while Sue became increasingly reticent, confiding only in her diary, and Jack and Julie began to develop feelings for each other. However, Julie's new boyfriend, Derek, threatens to expose the family's many dark secrets as he grows increasingly suspicious of Jack.
