Architecture of Infinity

How can structures, which are defined, rigid parts of space, make us feel like we're above the ground? How can chapels become places to think? How can walls give you so much freedom? Christoph Schaub, the film's director, was inspired by his childhood memories to visit churches that are both ancient and futuristic. He also finds works of art that take him to the sky and all the way down to the bottom of the ocean. With the assistance of architects Peter Zumthor, Peter Märkli, and lvaro Siza Vieira, artists James Turrell and Cristina Iglesias, and drummer Sergé "Jojo" Mayer, he attempts to make sense of the world and decipher our spiritual experiences through the use of seemingly abstract concepts such as light, time, rhythm, sound, and shape. The great cinematography makes this quiet search into a multi-sensory experience.
