In the Family

Chip Hines, a precocious six-year-old from Martin, Tennessee, has only known life with his two fathers, Cody and Joey. And it is a good life. Joey and Chip struggle to regain their footing after Cody is killed in a car accident. Cody's will reveals that he named his sister as Chip's guardian just as they begin. As Chip is taken from Joey, the years of his acceptance into the family unravel. Joey searches for a solution in his now-solitary home life. Although the law is not on his side, his friends are. Joey finds a path to peace with his family and closer to his son, armed with their comfort and inspired by memories of Cody.
