When a traumatized young man is dreaming of vengeance against his father, he imagines himself as Adolf Hitler. Schlingensief's picture, which has no linear narrative framework, was published at a time when right-wing German intellectuals were advocating for a reckoning with the country's Nazi past. Schlingensief, on the other hand, was of a different mind. (MoMA)
