Sunshine

The story of a Jewish family that lived in Hungary for three generations, rising from humble beginnings to positions of wealth and power in the Austro-Hungarian Empire as it crumbled around it. The patriarch rises to prominence as a judge, but he is torn when his government backs anti-Jewish persecutions against his people. In order to help his son become a champion fencer and Olympic hero, he converts to Christianity. He gets caught in the Holocaust. All of this makes the grandson realize that he must always be loyal to himself and his family. He has been through war and revolution and lost things and has been betrayed.
