The Infernal Trio

In 1919, in the city of Marseilles. Georges Sarret is a well-known and highly regarded attorney who was recently honored for his contributions to the Allies during World War One. He begins seeing Philomène Schmidt, a young German woman who has recently been made homeless and unemployed. To ensure that Philomène can stay in France, Georges arranges for her to marry a Frenchman who conveniently dies of natural causes a month after the wedding. Catherine, Philomène's sister, is married off by Georges in a similar scheme, this time to an elderly man who unexpectedly dies, so that Georges, Philomène, and their accomplice can collect on the man's life insurance. Georges and his two lovers are forced to murder Marcel Chambon, a partner in the scam, as he threatens to blackmail them.
