Norval Morrisseau was the first Indigenous Canadian artist to be recognized in the art world. His art was valued in the tens of thousands of dollars by the turn of the century. That's why Kevin Hearn of Barenaked Ladies sued when he found out his beloved painting was faked. Jamie Kastner's documentary reveals, however, that there was a cottage industry in phony Morrisseaus, an industry that thrived for years on greed, exploitation, bigotry, and contempt.
