Zazie dans le Métro
A precocious and brash ten-year-old comes to Paris for a whirlwind weekend with her uncle. He and the viewer have more than they bargained for within this comedy from Louis Malle, that rides roughshod across the Town of Lighting. Based on a popular novel by Raymond Queneau that was considered unadaptable, Malle's daring Zazie dans le Métro, made using flair to the cusp of the French New Wave, is just a little bit of stream-of-consciousness slapstick, wall-to-wall with visual gags, editing tricks, and effects.
