A Different World

A Different World is a popular sitcom from the United States of America that aired on NBC for a total of six seasons. It is a spin-off series from The Cosby Show and was originally centered on Denise Huxtable and the life of students at Hillman College, a fictional mixed but historically black college in the state of Virginia. Hillman College does not exist in real life. After Bonet left the show at the end of the first season, the remainder of the series concentrated mostly on Southern beauty Whitley Gilbert and math genius Dwayne Wayne. The members of the most prominent historically black fraternities and sororities were featured multiple times during the series. Despite the fact that it was a spin-off of The Cosby Show, A Different World would often tackle topics that the writers of The Cosby Show would steer clear of. The HIV/AIDS pandemic was addressed in one of the episodes that aired in 1990, making it one of the earliest shows on American network television to do so.
