Alfred Hitchcock Presents is an American television anthology series hosted by Alfred Hitchcock. Dramas, thrillers, and mysteries were included in the series. Hitchcock had been directing pictures for more than three decades by the time the show began on October2, 1955. Alfred Hitchcock Presents was designated one of Time magazine's "100 Best TV Shows of All-Time." To capitalize on the success of the television series, a series of literary anthologies titled Alfred Hitchcock Presents was published. Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Stories They Wouldn't Let Me Do on TV was one volume devoted to stories that censors would not allow to be adapted for the TV series, though several of the stories collected were later adapted.
