Claymore
Norihiro Yagi is the author and illustrator of the dark fantasy manga series Claymore. The series first aired in the May 2001 edition of the now-defunct Monthly Shnen Jump. The series was briefly moved to Weekly Shnen Jump when the magazine was terminated in June2007, where it was still published monthly. The series was relocated to Jump Square when it was launched in November 2007. Shueisha has issued 23 tankbon volumes as of December 2012. Madhouse made a twenty-six episode anime series out of the first eleven volumes of the series. Hiroyuki Tanaka directed the series, which debuted on NTV on April3, 2007 and lasted until September25, 2007. On July25, 2007 and September27,2007, respectively, the anime series' soundtrack and a CD of character songs featuring anime voice actresses were released. Viz Media has acquired the rights to publish the Claymore manga in English in North America. It began publishing the series on April4,2006, and as of November6,2012, there had been 21 volumes published. Funimation Entertainment, which released the first DVD in Fall 2008 and the whole series on Blu-ray in Spring2010, is the North American distributor for the anime version. The anime was licensed by Madman Entertainment for release in Australia and New Zealand, while it was sub-licensed by Manga Entertainment for distribution in the United Kingdom.
