Kavanagh QC
Kavanagh QC is a British TV show that ran from 1995 to 2001 on ITV and was made by Central Television. It's often shown again on ITV3, and seasons 1–6 are available on DVD for Region 2. John Thaw played barrister James Kavanagh QC, who grew up in Bolton, Greater Manchester, in a working-class family. This isn't found out until later episodes, when his parents' health starts to get worse, and through a conversation with a coworker who thought Kavanagh was actually from Yorkshire. The show was about his fights in court as well as his problems at home, like when his loving and devoted wife died. He starts dating a lawyer later on. Most of the time, when Kavanagh is in court, he is defending a client who seems likely to be convicted until something changes in the case. Sometimes, though, Kavanagh is the prosecutor. In the main plot, Kavanagh often has to deal with cases that involve racism, sexism, or other kinds of prejudice. In side stories, Jeremy, a high-class lawyer in chambers, was funny because he was full of himself and full of himself. Kavanagh won't put up with unfairness, and those who are against him in court can't scare him away with threats or bribes.
