Maverick
Roy Huggins made the American Western TV show Maverick, which has some funny parts. The show aired on ABC from September 22, 1957 to July 8, 1962. James Garner played Bret Maverick, a skilled card player. In the eighth episode of the first season, Jack Kelly came on as his brother Bart. From then on, Garner and Kelly took turns being the main character each week, sometimes working together for a two-brother episode. The Mavericks were a group of Texas poker players who traveled all over the American Old West and on Mississippi riverboats. They were always getting into and out of dangerous situations, usually involving money, women, or both. Most of the time, they would have to choose between a financial windfall and a moral dilemma. Since both Mavericks were very moral, their sense of right and wrong usually won out over money. After the third season, Garner left the show because of a legal dispute. Roger Moore joined the cast as their cousin Beau Maverick. Brent Maverick, the third brother of the Maverick family, was played by Robert Colbert in the second half of the fourth season. Only one of the series' main characters, and usually only one, ever showed up in the same episode.
