Wycliffe
Wycliffe is a British television series based on the novels of Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe written by W. J. Burley. Following a pilot episode on August 7, 1993, it was produced by HTV and broadcast on the ITV Network from July 24, 1994 until May 5, 1998. The series was shot in Cornwall, and the production headquarters was located in Truro. Nigel Hess composed the music for the series, which won the Royal Television Society award for best television theme. Jack Shepherd portrays Wycliffe, with the assistance of DI Doug Kersey and DI Lucy Lane. Each episode focuses on a different murder investigation. In the earliest series, the stories are based from Burley's novels and are written in a classic whodunit style, frequently with eccentric characters and plots. Later seasons include a more lifelike tone and a greater emphasis on the police's internal politics.
